Surah Fatiha (فاتِحَة) otherwise known as Fatihat al-Kitab (فاتِحةُ الکِتاب) meaning the opening of the book is the first surah in the Noble Quran. This surah has seven verses with the Bismillah being counted as the first verse. It is incumbent on all Muslims to memorize this surah as they must recite it in their prayers.
Why Surah Al-Fatihah Starts With Al-Hamd. The word al-Fatihah means “opener”. So this surah is the opener of the Quran. It has seven verses that are repeated by every Muslim many times during the course of his or her daily prayers. Thus the surah is also called the al-Sab’ al-Mathani (Al-Hijr 15:87) that is “the Seven Oft-repeated.”.

I initially began with al-Fatihah and al-Baqarah but then decided it would be better to start from the back of the Qur’an, at least until Surah al-Qaf, after which, I will begin from Surah al-I’mran. I am currently working on the rest of the chapters. As soon as I have them finalized, they will be available as well insha’Allah.
